Sovcomflot (SCF) Group and Exxon Neftegas have signed agreements for two ice-breaking supply vessels to service the oil platform at the Sakhalin-1 Arkutun-Dagi offshore oil field.
The deal includes a long-term charter for a minimum of ten years for two Russian-registered ice-class supply vessels of 4,000dwt each, which will commence operations off Sakhalin Island in June 2013.
The next-generation multifunctional supply vessels have been designed to provide for the delivery of supplies, emergency response, icebreaking, towing and escorting ships at the Arkutun-Dagi platform.
The vessels can navigate in ice, have a propulsion system with two steering units, can maintain a steady position at the platform, can operate during winter seasons, break ice of up to 1.7m thick as well as provide total power of 18MW.
