Iran’s National Iranian Tanker (NITC) will take delivery of a VLCC from South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard this month.

The state-owned company is planning to add six more oil tankers in 2011, increasing its capacity to 12.5 million tons a year.

Iran has 28 newbuild vessels on order with foreign and domestic shipyards, which will increase its capacity to 18 million tons a year.

NITC owns 46 ships including nine Suezmax vessels and five Aframax ships and has an annual capacity of 10.6 million tons.
