The Vancouver Commercial Seaplane Operators’ Association (VCSOA) is applying to Port Metro Vancouver in Canada to construct a multi-modal passenger terminal in Vancouver Harbour to service seaplanes and helicopters.

VCSOA, which is a group of eight commercial seaplane operators in the city, has proposed the multi-modal harbuor as an alternative to a $22m proposal to build a seaplane and marina facility at the north end of the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre Expansion.

The association said the marina facility would add an estimated $24 to passenger ticket costs for it to be profitable to operators.

VCSOA president Greg McDougall said the Harbour Hub will be one of the most innovative and integrated seaplane terminals on the continent.
