The Indian Navy and coast guard in the Arabian Sea intercepted and sunk a Somali pirate ship in a gun battle near Lakshadweep Islands.
The forces captured 15 pirates and rescued 20 Thai and Burmese fishermen on board the Thai fishing trawler Prantalay.
The trawler was first noticed by a coast guard patrol aircraft responding to an emergency call from a Bahamas-owned container vessel.
The pirates have used the vessel as a mothership since they captured it in April 2010, according to sify.com.
