Finnish company Cargotec will acquire terminal operator systems provider Navis from US-based Zebra Technologies for $190m.
By acquiring Navis, Cargotec will further strengthen its ability to provide total solutions for its terminal customers.
Navis will continue its business with its customers as an independent part of Cargotec.
The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals from competition authorities, which are expected during the first quarter of 2011.
Navis’s terminal operator systems software helps customers coordinate and automate the movement of containers and equipment in terminals and yards. It also enables customers to manage the operations of a single terminal or multiple terminals in different geographic areas from a central location.
Navis sales are expected to be around $70m in 2011 with 40% recurring sales.
