Northern Ireland shipyard Harland & Wolff (H&W) has won a £2m ($3.2m) contract to refurbish Nomadic, the ship that was used to bring first-class passengers to the ill-fated Titanic.
Funding for the refurbishment will be provided by the EU Peace III programme.

The ship is owned by Northern Ireland’s Department for Social Development, which also awarded the contract.
“We are looking forward to the next chapter, which will see her take up a role as a key attraction at the heart of the centenary festivities,” said Northern Ireland’s Social Development Minister Alex Attwood.
Work will start on the project soon and will be complete by the end of July, in time for the centenary of Titanic‘s sinking in 2012, according to the BBC.
Titanic was also built at the H&W shipyard.
