French offshore firm Bourbon has selected Offshore Ship Designers (OSD) to design a series of six new fuel-efficient seismic support / chase vessels on order.

The seismic vessels will include a fuel-efficient hybrid propulsion system that supports the vessels conditions such as transit speed, slow speed escort and support work and a high degree of manoeuvrability.

The vessels will have a length of 53.8m, beam of 13m, depth of 5.8m and load draft of 4.8m.

The vessels will be built at Dubai’s Grandweld Shipyards.

The first vessel is scheduled to be delivered to Bourbon by the end of next year.

Upon delivery, they will be chartered to CGGVeritas, which will be used to support the fleet of its seismic survey vessels operating worldwide.
