New Zealand’s Ports of Auckland container operations will be based at the recently expanded Fergusson container terminal, the company has announced.

The port will berth the majority of visiting container ships and base all stevedoring staff at the terminal.

Currently, container ship schedules and stevedoring staff are divided between the Fergusson and Bledisloe container terminals.

These changes will remove the duplication of overheads and infrastructure, Ports of Auckland said.

Bledisloe terminal will be used for port operations, including containers, non-containerised cargo and customs activities.
