Energy giant Shell has selected ship company Edison Chouest to build a 360ft ice-class anchor handling tug supply vessel.

The shipbuilding contract, valued at $150m, is Edison Chouest’s biggest construction order, the Houma Daily Comet reports.

The vessel will feature a steel double hull and will be designed for low engine sound and emissions as well as zero discharge.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2012.
