Greek fleet operator Tsakos Energy Navigation has delivered the Ise Princess, a 105,000dwt Aframax tanker from Japan’s Sumitomo Heavy Industries.
The tanker, with a double-hull DNA design, has immediately started a repositioning time-charter for a maximum of four months at a fixed rate with a key global oil trader. Once the charter is complete, the ship is likely to run in the Mid-Atlantic basin.
For 2009 and 2010, the company’s fixed employment, including the new charter, is 64% and 44% respectively.
The Ise Princess is the fifth in an eight-vessel series. By May 2010, the firm is slated to take delivery of the remaining three ships.
Tsakos Energy Navigation has an operational fleet of 47 ships with double-hull design and a pro forma fleet of 50 vessels with 5.3 million dwt.
