Independent container shipping line Mediterranean Shipping Corporation will transport cargo from Europe, expanding its operations at the Port of Philadelphia, US.
In a bid to increase the movement of ships at the port, the Geneva-based company will start European shipments into the Packer Avenue Marine Terminal in south Philadelphia.
The total cargo shipment at the Philadelphia Port by end 30 June 2009 was 1.7 million tonnes, down 15% compared to two million tonnes in 2008.
