Shipbuilding steel plate prices in Japan are on the decline, according to shipping industry sources.

The prices decline from 25,000 yen ($274.75) and 30,000 yen a ton represents 30% against 2008 prices.

The decrease in price seen for the first time in seven years is partially due to the decline in raw material prices and the fall in the demand of steel, mostly in Asian countries.
