Vessel construction company VIGOR MARINE has won a $13.1m contract to upgrade and refurbish a ship owned by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The 42-year-old, 231ft Rainier, designed for conducting coastal hydrographic surveys, is expected to relocate from Seattle to Newport in 2011.
The Portland-based company aims to finish the renovation work in November 2010.
Vigor Marine is owned by Portland-based Vigor Industrial.
