Kongsberg Seatex has launched two new position sensors, the DPS 110 and DPS 112, to help utilise the Global Satellite Based Augmentation System (Global SBAS).
The service offers corrections to both GPS and GLONASS to enable enhanced accuracy for sea-going vessels to less than a metre worldwide.
Kongsberg Seatex vice-president of sales and customer support Vidar Bjørkedal said the DPS products are well-proven as robust sources of accurate positioning with high availability for use in safety critical maritime operations.
“The DPS 110 and DPS 112, together with the SeaSTAR SGG service, make some of these capabilities available to a wider range of applications,” Bjørkedal said.
Global SBAS, introduced by navigation specialist Fugro SeaSTAR AS, uses Fugro’s network of dual system reference stations to calculate ‘orbit and clock’ corrections.
The DPS 110 and DPS 112 are also capable of supplementing SeaSTAR SGG corrections with regional SBAS and local DGPS corrections.
DPS 112 extends the GPS capability of the DPS 110 by utilising dual frequency GLONASS signals.
