American Commercial Lines (ACL) said its manufacturing arm Jeffboat will build 50 covered hopper barges to be used by its transportation service division.
In a statement, the company said the barges will be built at Jeffboat’s Jeffersonville shipyard in the first quarter of 2010.
The newbuilds will replace a portion of ACL’s aging fleet of dry barges, ACL said.
ACL transportation service division and Jeffboat are owned by Jeffersonville, Indiana-based American Commercial Lines.
