Sante Shipping Lines is to begin a new marine service between South Florida and Haiti starting 21 November.

The twice-a-month cargo service will encompass Haiti’s northern cities of Cap Haitien and Gonaives using a ship that can carry the equivalent of 181 20ft trailers.

In early 2010, Sante could also use barges to transport goods from its container vessels to smaller ports in Haiti.

Roll-on, roll-off barge service to Turks, Puerto Rico, Caicos Islands and the southern Bahamas have also been included in the company’s future marine plans.
