SPP Receives Six Newbuild Orders

SPP Shipbuilding and SPP Plant & Shipbuilding have been awarded newbuild orders for two 81,000dwt bulkers and four 59,000dwt bulkers from three European shipowners.

South Korean shipbuilding firm has struck the deal for $210m.

The shipbuilding group has delivered 58 50,000dwt products tankers and three 35,000dwt bulkers so far this year.

The company’s order backlog stands at 145 ships of around 2.55m cgt worth $6.5bn.

SPP Group’s orderbook consists products tankers of 50,000dwt, 74,000dwt and 113,000dwt, and bulkers of 35,000dwt, 59,000dwt and 81,00 dwt.

The firm posted revenue of KRW1.37tn ($1.187bn) for 2008 and it targets KRW1.8tn this year.
