The New World Alliance (TNWA) carriers has announced service and capacity changes with the Grand Alliance (GA) lines, including Orient Overseas Container Line, Hapag-Lloyd and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK).

Under the agreement, the shipping lines will jointly operate the New York Express (NYX) starting 2 December.

TNWA carriers, made up of APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), will provide six ships and the GA with three vessels.

APL, HMM and MOL will each withdraw one ship from the service.

According to the shipping line, the NYX port coverage will be enhanced with an additional port call at Shekou.

The agreement and service will reduce trade capacity by approximately 4,000 teu.
