Almost one in five Capesize vessels used to haul coal and iron ore are anchored at ports, close to the all-time high reached earlier this year.

According to a report by Global Ports, 64 ships are scheduled to arrive at China’s ports over the next 14 days.

At major Australian ore and coal ports, the number of anchored Capesizes, including smaller Panamaxes and Handymaxes, was 146, down 136 from the week before.

There are 178 vessels scheduled to arrive in the country in the next two weeks, the report said.
