Greek ship MV Ariana has been freed by Somali pirates after its owner paid $3.7m, according to reports by news agency AFP.

The ship was hijacked six months ago off the south-west coast of the Seychelles.

Its Ukrainian crew were also held with the ship, managed by Seven Seas Maritime in London.

The ship was carrying soya and was sailing from the Middle East to Brazil.
