Marine transportation company Crowley has taken delivery of a double-hull oil and chemical tanker from General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, California, for American Petroleum Tankers.

The 600ft-long Sunshine State has a capacity to carry 331,000 barrels and can reach speeds of 15kt.

The vessel will be chartered to Chevron in Pascagoula.

Two other sister vessels, the Empire State and the Evergreen State, will be charted to the Military Sealift Command and are scheduled for delivery in 2010.
