Wireless technology developer Intellicheck Mobilisa has secured a contract from the Port of New York/New Jersey to supply advance security systems.

The company said it will supply the ports with mobile Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC) readers and access control systems to support the Department of Homeland Security TWIC Pilot project.

The TWIC programme provides tamper-resistant biometric identification cards to port facility workers.

TWIC cards have become a mandatory requirement for access to all US ports effective 15 April 2009.
