Hornbeck Offshore Services said it has launched a DP-2 classed multi-purpose support vessel.

The HOS Centerline has a capacity of 8,000dwt and can transport nearly 30,000 barrels of liquid drilling mud and fuel, the company said.

The 370 design vessel is equipped with a self-contained mixing and cleaning system that reduces the risk of drilling fluid collapse and minimises the time necessary to clean storage tanks, the company said.

Positive displacement pumping systems also allow the vessel to provide a consistent transfer of product even at installations with large air gaps.

The ship was added to the company’s fleet in February 2009 and achieved its multi-certifications in October 2009.

The company said it expects the ship’s sister-vessel, HOS Strongline, to join its fleet in early 2010.
