The US Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration has awarded a contract to San Francisco Ship Repair to clean and recycle three Second World War ships from the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet.
The contract includes the last two victory ships, the Rider Victory and the Winthrop Victory, the department said.
The ships will be cleaned and towed to Brownsville, Texas, to be dismantled by Esco Marine under the terms of three separate service contracts for $3,407,726, the department said.
