The Ports America Group said it will operate the Seagirt Marine Terminal in the Port of Baltimore.

The Group’s subsidiary, Ports America Chesapeake (PAC), has closed on an agreement to provide more than $1.3bn in value to the State of Maryland, US.

The group said PAC will also provide 100% of the funding to upgrade the Port of Baltimore so it is capable of handling super post-panamax container ships.

Ports America is the largest independent American terminal operator and stevedore, with operations in 44 ports and 84 terminals.
