The closure of the Sabine/Neches waterway in Texas, US, following an oil spill has led to queues and a backlog of ships.

Up to 14 vessels are waiting to enter and 12 will depart while 70 additional vessels are queuing to use the waterway, according to the US Coast Guard.

Of the 11,000 barrels of spilled crude oil, approximately 5,239 barrels have been recovered, evaporated or dispersed naturally.

The oil slick has spread north-west, with minor penetration through the northern containment boom, it has been reported.
