Renewable energy company PlanetSolar has launched what it calls the world’s largest solar-powered vessel at the HDW Shipyard in Germany.
The company said the catamaran will be powered by approximately 38,000 solar cells, designed by a team of international engineers.
PlanetSolar said the 30m vessel will be launched for testing in late March.
The catamaran is scheduled to undertake the first solar-powered round-the-world voyage in April 2011.
