Transocean‘s deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 has started operations in India under a five-year contract with Reliance Industries.

The vessel can work in water depths of up to 12,000ft and construct wells up to 35,000ft deep.

It is equipped with off-line tubular-handling and stand-building capabilities, advanced mud system designs and systems for building, storing and running subsea trees.

Transocean has four additional newbuild floaters in different stages of construction which are scheduled to begin operations in 2010 and 2011.
