Newbuild orders for four 37,000dwt tankers have been received by South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard from French operator Socatra.

Socatra’s order follows a four 7,500dwt-vessel contract placed with a Chinese yard, scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2011.

Hyundai Mipo deputy chief executive Daniel Bozzoni said that the company had yet to decide whether the newbuilds would be used for fleet expansion or to replace existing vessels.

Delivery is scheduled for March, April, May and June 2011.
