The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, US, has awarded Burger Boat Company a $1.9m research vessel newbuild contract.
The vessel, the 60ft RV Coregonus, will replace the previous research ship the RV Barney Devine.
The vessel will include on-board laboratory equipment, watertight compartments and a semi-planning hull along with capabilities to perform scuba operations.
Designed by SeaCraft, the ship is expected to be operational in 2011.
