Orient Overseas (OOIL) has reported an almost 19% increase in its Q1 container shipping revenue.

In the quarter ending 31 March, the Chinese shipping line posted a total revenue of $1.134bn compared to $954.17m on a year-on-year basis, OOIL said.

The company’s total volumes increased 7.2% to 1.05 million teus and average revenue per teu increased by 10.9% compared to the same period a year earlier.

During the quarter, OOIL’s load factor rose by 14.6% with a 12.1% decrease in loadable capacity, it said.
