US-based Colonna’s Shipyard has expanded its facility to equip “the world’s largest mobile hoist”.

The new facility, covering nearly ten acres, features the hoist and a 1,000t marine travel lift.

The system is capable of lifting ship types such as US Navy and USCG patrol craft and specialty vessels.

Two concrete slipway piers have been extended 325ft into the river for lay berth accommodation enabling crane service for side-to loading.

The facility can also accommodate 15 vessels simultaneously including tugs, barges, ferries, workboats and yachts.
