The Chinese Government is opening a CNY1.2bn ($176m) cruise terminal in the Wusong Port area, where the Huangpu meets the Yangtze River and the East China Sea.
The Wusong International Cruise Ship Terminal has been designed to annually handle 608,000 passengers and is expected to process 560,000 passengers by 2015.
The first phase of investment in the city’s second port for international liners includes two berths, a terminal building, a custom platform and an approach bridge, according to shanghaidaily.com.
In the second phase, the government is planning to add two extra berths in the terminal by 2012.
The terminal can accommodate a 100,000t liner and a 200,000t ship simultaneously.
