Dutch shipbuilders AMELS has launched a Sea AXE 5009 Fast Yacht Support vessel that can travel at high speeds in any sea condition.

The 50m Oberon is the first ship to use AXE BOW, the design that reduces the slamming motion of a ship in a rough seaway, according to bymnews.com

The yacht, which can run at a speed of 28 knots, has been designed with a 30m open deck and can handle 250t of cargo.

AMELS said the vessel can carry a helicopter, tenders, toys, fuels, consumables and waste, in addition to staff and relief crew.

The AXE BOW is a patented design created jointly by DAMEN and Delft University of Technology.

The vessel is currently operating in the Mediterranean area.
