STX Europe has received a contract from Simon Møkster Rederi in Norway to build a platform supply vessel (PSV) to be delivered in the first quarter of 2012.
The Norwegian shipbuilding company said the PSV would be engaged in winter operations as well as rescue and oil recovery operations.
Designed with Dynpos AUTR dynamic positioning, the vessel features a catalytic reactor exhaust system, improved sea-keeping abilities as well as a fuel-efficient transit mode, the company said.
The 93.5m ship has a displacement capacity of nearly 4,900t with a cargo deck space of around 1,055m2.
Simon Møkster Rederi ordered a similar vessel in 2009, which will be delivered in 2011.
