Qatar Public Works Authority has awarded a QR781.75m ($214m) contract to Consolidated Engineering and Construction for the expansion of Al Ruwais Port.
The Jordanian engineering company will work on the basin, a passenger and commercial crew jetty, protection walls, infrastructure, storage areas and passenger terminal buildings.
The 3km channel will be dredged to 5m, while the port basin and impoundment basin will be deepened by 7m and 5m, respectively, the government said.
The expansion work will also include the construction of quay walls, navigation aids, rock revetments, floating pontoons, fuel storage tanks and dispensers.
The work will start in June.
