Vietnam National Shipping Lines has started modernisation of Cam Ranh Port in the coastal province of Khanh Hoa.

Under the VND520bn ($27.4m) project, the state-owned company will renovate and upgrade the 18ha port area.

The company said it will build a 240m-long dock to receive ships of up to 50,000dwt.

It is also planning to invest in cranes and warehouses to increase the port’s capacity from 1.5 million tpy to 1.8 million tpy.
