STX’s European subsidiary STX France has signed a contract with Libya’s state-owned General National Maritime Transportation Company to build a 139,400t cruise ship.

The 333m-long cruise vessel will have 1,739 passenger cabins and 732 crew cabins.

The shipbuilder has not revealed the price of the ship but industry sources estimate it to be around KRW1tn ($815m), according to bernama.com.

The vessel will be built at the Saint-Nazaire shipyard in France.

The cruise ship will carry about 4,000 passengers and is scheduled for delivery in December 2012.
