STX Norway Offshore and partner PJMR Empreendimentos, through their subsidiary Estaileiro Promar, have received a $536m contract to build eight liquefied petroleum gas carriers.
The agreement includes the construction of a carrier with a capacity of 7,000m3 and a semi-refrigerated vessel with a cargo capacity of 12,000m3.
STX said the vessels are part of Petrobras subsidiary Transpetro’s second-phase fleet modernisation programme and are scheduled to be delivered between Q3 2013 and Q4 2015.
The vessels will be built at Estaleiro Promar in Brazil.
STX Norway Offshore is developing the shipyard with its Brazilian partner PJMR Empreendimentos.
