Macau Port is planning a $187.5m ferry terminal on Taipa Island, China, according to a port official.

The port operates two ferry terminals, the Inner Harbor and the Outer Harbor on the Macao Peninsula, along with a temporary facility on Taipa Island with 16 berths, according to macauhub.com.mo.

The Chinese Port Authority said the provisional terminal near Macau International Airport will be upgraded with three additional berths to handle vessels with up to 1,200 passengers.

Zhenhua Harbour Construction will build the terminal, which is expected to be fully operational in the first half of 2013.
