Wärtsilä has posted a 42% increase in second quarter new orders of €1.18bn ($1.5bn) compared with €785m ($1.4bn) a year ago.
However, the Finnish engineering group said its net sales during the quarter decreased 15% to €1.13bn ($2.6).
The group’s operating profit fell to €117m ($151m) during the quarter.
In the first half of 2010, Wärtsilä’s order book was worth €4.3bn ($5.5bn) compared with €5.8bn ($7.4bn) in the previous period, it said.
Cash flow from operating activities during the last six months fell 72% to €270m ($349m).
