China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) will help Venezuela build the port of Puerto Carbello with an investment of $600m.

CHEC, a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company, will build a container terminal at the Venezuelan port, which has been without capital investment since 1970.

In the first phase of the project, two berths will be constructed to accommodate Post-Panamax ships.

The first phase will cost $600m and aims to double the cargo capacity of the terminal.
