ASRY Goes Ahead With Capacity Expansion

Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) in Bahrain will invest $188m to expand its capacity.

ASRY will construct a 1.38km repair quay wall, which is being executed by Nass Contracting, under a $80m contract from the shipbuilding company.

Nass Contracting will also build a 1,200m quay wall, with an alongside water depth of 12m, which can berth vessels up to 300,000dwt, as well as a 180m return quay to repair vessels up to 40,000dwt.

The first 400m section of the quay wall is scheduled for completion by the end of this year while the 1,200m quay wall and the 180m return quay are expected to be completed by 2011.
