Swiss power and automation technology firm ABB has signed a long-term Preventive Service agreement with China LNG Shipping International (CLSICO) to provide services to onboard equipment installed in LNG vessels.

Under the deal, the Swiss firm will offer maintenance services to all ABB equipment installed on CLSICO’s six LNG vessels in the next five years.

With the new service agreement, CLSICO expects to optimise its vessels performance at lower cost.

The Swiss firm will also be responsible for providing annual site survey and on-call services to the six vessels covered by the agreement, in addition to dry dock service every 2.5 years.

Scope of work under the contract includes providing preventive maintenance on power generation plants, as well as mechanical and electrical systems.

ABB head of Marine and Cranes business Heikki Soljama said the five-year maintenance plan will help CLSICO in achieving its cost-saving targets.

"ABB’s modular service agreement concept allowed us to tailor make the service package that best suits CLSICO’s fleet management model, "Soljama said.

"Additionally, the framework ensures effective communication and transparency between CLSICO management and ABB, which in turn strengthens the co-operation between both parties and streamlines key processes."

CLSICO fleet manager Sandy Farquhar said, "One of our key priorities is to maximise fleet availability whilst keeping our costs as predictable as possible."

CLSICO was established in 2006 in Hong Kong and offers LNG ship management services for ship-owners and charterers.
