China Navigation Company (CNCo) has finalised an order with China’s Chengxi Shipyard to build four additional 39,500dwt handysize bulk carriers.
The order brings the number of Deltamarin-designed vessels ordered by CNCo to 12; the company also has additional options that can be declared in 2013.

The vessels will be built at Chengxi shipyard to the B.Delta37 design, which features low fuel consumption technology, additional cargo deadweight and greater cargo cubic capacity.
The first vessel in the order is scheduled to be delivered in January 2014.
All the vessels will have a length of 180m, beam of 30m, scantling draught of 10.5m and cargo capacity of 48,500m³.
Following delivery, the vessels will be deployed in CNCo’s drybulk division, Swire Bulk, and will operate around the world.

By GlobalDataThe vessels are designed to carry bulk cargoes, grain, coal, concentrates, heavy general cargo, steel coils, steel slabs and a wide variety of heavy project cargoes.
CNCo’s new handysize bulk carriers will also be equipped with four electric deck cranes on the centerline, each rated at 30t at maximum outreach of 26m.
The tanktops of the vessels are specifically designed for heavy cargoes and all holds have double skin hydraulic folding hatch covers and forced draft fans to protect cargo.
According to Deltamarin, the service speed at design draught will be 14 knots, while model tests indicate a daily fuel oil consumption at design draft of 18t, including 15% sea margin, ISO conditions.
