Seattle-based ship owner Fishermen’s Finest has signed a contract with Dakota Creek Industries shipyard to build a new US-flagged environmentally friendly factory trawler.
The stern trawler will produce frozen white fish products at sea, including groundfish, yellow and rock sole species.

The new-build vessel will be powered by MAN Diesel & Turbo’s MAN 8L32/44CR engine using the latest common rail technology.
The 79.8m-long trawler will be capable of accommodating 49 persons and is to be operated in the Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea inside the US EEZ. It is expected to be delivered in November 2017.

The trawler will be constructed in compliance with DNV GL rules for fishing vessels and will be fully rigged for pelagic and bottom trawling.
