Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen (DSV) has been selected by Helix UK to upgrade its light well intervention / dive support vessel, MSV Seawell.
DSV completed the refurbishment of MSV Seawell in 2012, while the renovation of DSV Well Enhancer was finished earlier this year.

MSV Seawell is expected to reach Vlissingen’s yard in the second half of December.
For this project, DSV will provide their covered dry-dock with a 300t overhead crane to avoid issues related with the winter conditions.

By GlobalDataThe renovation scope includes an exchange of all six gensets, including new foundations, overhaul of all thrusters and azimuths, replacement of two cherry pickers and the existing twin slewing cranes by a new single boom 50t crane with active heave compensation.
In addition, all switchboards will be replaced along with the demolition of the existing derrick and the instalment of a new one with all related equipment.
Following the derrick replacement, a number of adjustments will be made on the functioning and operation of the moon pool doors, winches and other equipment.
Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen has three dry docks, including a covered 215m-long graving dock with a 51m air draft and an overhead crane capacity of 300t.
