Towing services provider Repasa has successfully moored an LNG tanker in its first mission in Equatorial Guinea, which is also a first for the company’s joint venture with P&O Maritime.

For the exercise, Repasa used two Damen Stan Tugs 1606 named Red Ant and Red Bee. These two are the first Damen-constructed tugs in Repasa’s fleet.
Damen built the tugs at its shipyard, Gorinchem, in the Netherlands for a customer in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea at the end of September.
Damen regional sales manager Reinier van Herel said: "The contract is a successful match between Repasa’s operational needs and Damen’s high-quality product.
"We are happy to be involved with Repasa and P&O Maritime, who are working together to explore opportunities in West Africa."

The tug, Guapo Warrior, was constructed at Damen’s shipyard, Galati, in Romania. Guapo Warrior will offer gas terminal berthing services for an energy firm in Trinidad and Tobago.
