Galliano shipbuilder and oilfield service provider Edison Chouest Offshore will invest $425m to expand deepwater port facilities in Brazil.
A 60 acre property will be leased for the expansion and, according to Prumo Logistica, the investment will allow Chouest to maintain its own vessels and a base to serve its offshore customers at Acu Port at Sao Joao da Barra in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The property will have deepwater berths for around 12 vessels, with the option to grow to 18 vessels in future.
Chouset’s port and logistic offerings at Port Fourchon are known for their success in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Edison Chouest Offshore founder Gary Chouest said the port is located close to the growing Campos Basin and features deepwater draft.
Edison Chouest Offshore director Ricardo Chagas said the installation of the base in the Port of Acu is essential to the expansion plan of Edison Chouest in Brazil.

Construction on the deepwater port facilities will begin from early 2015 and will generate 900 jobs at the base.
In Brazil, Chouest operates 70 offshore supply vessels serving Petrobas, Shell, Statoil and other firms, and ten remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in Brazil.
The company operates more than 230 vessels across the world.
