Feadship Royal Dutch Shipyards has launched a 60.35m-long superyacht, ROCK.IT, which has been developed for an undisclosed customer.
For the first time on a superyacht, the ROCK.IT features an intuitive control and manoeuvring system mainly developed for naval applications.
Further details of the project and contract are not disclosed.
Feadship director Henk de Vries said during the launching ceremony: "This is the epitome of the Feadship experience, which encompasses the entire design and construction process. ROCK.IT is a true 21st-century Feadship."
ROCK.IT features include a modern interior blended with dark precious woods and light stones, crotched mahogany, sycamore paneling and a skylight in the sun deck canopy.
A joint venture of designers and naval architects from Sinot Yacht Design and Feadship have worked on the project.
The advanced technology with a semi-DP autopilot system allows this yacht to keep its heading at anchor, hovering on the main engine and the thrusters.
ROCK.IT captain said: "I’m also glad we did this with Feadship, as it requires a high degree of confidence in the hardware and the people. This manoeuvring system represents a real step towards the future. To make it happen at this point in time, took real vision and considerable skill."
